Description
Very late production [1892] Springfield trapdoor rifle. Complete rifle with interesting markings. The rifle is complete, metal services are smooth with a brown patina. All markings are sharp and distinct. The stock has no cracks, very few dents or bruises and a sharp dated cartouche. The serial number is 542504. This is at the very end of production of this model rifle. The rifle has a ramrod bayonet. Markings on the top of the stock at the tang of the buttplate indicate that this rifle was issued to a New York unit that was in the Spanish-American war.
