Description
Springfield “trapdoor” rifle manufactured in 1880. This 143-year-old 45–70 caliber rifle was issued to the Army in the latter part of the 19th century. The rifle is complete, metal surfaces are smooth with no pitting. All markings are sharp and distinct. Approximately 20% of the original finish remains. The three groove barrel is bright and shiny. The stock has no cracks and a very minimum number of dents or bruises. A dated cartouche and firing proof are present.
