A model 1896 enlisted miter. Issued to the third Battalion, Kaiser Alexander Garde Grenadier Regiment. Tall brass front plate bears the stamped crown and garde star. The helmet has red wool backing outlined in white trim. Very good condition considering its age. About 4 inches of trim missing on the left side and approximately a 4 inch tear in the wool on the same side. An interesting type of helmet that dates back to the Revolutionary war, primarily worn in parades.
